Tensioning is required at only one post -- fixed terminals are
recommended for use on post two. However, particularly in the case of non-concealed
terminals, you may request to use a matching tensioning terminal at
the end post. Contact Wagner to make this manual
change in your bill of material.

If you opt not to have your cable pre-swaged, Wagner will build into your price
a charge for renting the necessary tools required for you to do your own cutting
and swaging on site.

Clip-On Fixed Jaw |
A non-concealed fixed fitting which requires swaging, either in the field, or pre-swaged by Wagner. Since
the ferrule diameter is small enough to pass through posts and
cable brace holes, Wagner can factory swage this fitting before
shipment for a ready to install cable, No special tools required. This terminal is used in conjunction
with a threaded
tab.which gets screwed into your existing posts. |

The Adjust-A-Jaw |

This tensioning device, which
will require a swaged ferrule, typically is used on stair
applications and is used to achieve a Turnbuckle or Nautical look.. This
terminal is used in conjunction with a Lag-Eye
Tab which gets screwed into your existing posts. |

Push-Lock with Eye |
A non-concealed fixed fitting which requires
no swaging. Cable is
supplied long to be cut to length prior to assembly. A cutting
tool will be supplied with your order for this purpose. This
terminal is used in conjunction with a threaded
tab which gets
screwed into your existing posts. |

Invisiware Receiver |
Used for a concealed look. This provides a second tensioning device. A threaded stud is required
which may be swaged on site or supplied pre-swaged onto the cables by
Wagner.

The above choices are our most common cable rail end post
sizes and are available for purchase separately. All
cable rail end posts must meet a minimum strength
requirement to resist the cable tensioning forces.

Cable Quantity: Measure the vertical infill opening, and -- if you need to meet the 4" sphere rule -- divide by
3.125 and round up to the nearest whole number then subtract 1. i.e. enter 11 for a 36" high railing and 13 for a 42" high railing.
Check your local building codes to determine your guard height and infill requirements. Generally, guards require a 42" height in commercial applications and 36" height in residential applications. |

Yes if you know your final dimensions and would like Wagner to pre-swage your cables.
No if you are unsure of your your final dimensions or would like to swage your own fittings at the job site. Cable will be sent on a spool and rental swaging equipment will be included in your quote along with installation instructions. |

In order to meet codes regarding the 4" sphere rule, cable must be spaced 3.125" on center, tensioned to 400 pounds, and supported every 42". If your post spacing is greater than 42", you will need to add cable braces to your design.
To determine the quantity of cable braces needed, start by measuring the space between
your intermediate posts (inches), divide by 42, and round up to the
nearest whole inch. Each cable brace comes with a top and bottom
plate for securing the brace to the deck and the underside
of the top rail. |

Provide distance from the inside of your starting post to the inside of the end post. for each independent run -- section --of railing. Each run will be indepedent and have a set of hardware on each post. If you would like the cable to continue through corners, use the multiple run cable infill configurator.

Building codes will vary from location to location. Confirm the requirements of your local jurisdiction prior to specifying. In particular, confirm infill opening limitations and height and load requirements.

4" Sphere Rule: Building codes require that guardrails have no opening that is large enough to allow the passage of a 4" sphere. To meet this 4" sphere rule, cable spacing must not exceed 3-1/8".

Swaging is a mechanical process used to permanently attach components to stainless steel cable. Wagner's Ultra-Tec components require power tools for this operation -- the use of hand swaging tools in not acceptable.

All cable lengths shown in
the bill of material are approximate, depending upon which
terminal you select, and how you plan to install the
cables. This is particularly important for
fixed terminals which may require field swaging, or for
cable which you choose to be factory swaged to length.
If you choose pre-cutting and swaging, our engineering
staff will specify the exact measurements needed for our
factory to supply a cable that matches your installation.

For structural integrity of the system, intermediate posts are generally spaced every 4 to 5 feet. However, to meet the 4" Sphere Rule, cable must be supported every 42", spaced 3-1/8" on-center, and tensioned to 400 pounds. Cable bracing will be supplied as specified above.
