Glass Rail Configurator - Wet Glaze System
By making the selections below, you will be provided with a quick, budgetary quote for a standard glass railing system. For the sake of simplicity, the most common top rail options are shown here. Other sizes are available. Contact Wagner for further information.

Level -- Concrete Surface Mount
Shoe moulding is the key to the structural integrity of any glass railing system. Proper attachment is extremely important. In this application, glass is set in the shoe using a wet glaze method for surface mounting to 4,000 psi concrete with a minimum 5" slab.

How many stock lengths of shoe moulding do you need?
Shoe Moulding is sold in 10' or 20' Lengths.

2. With or without pre-drilled holes?
For mounting to concrete, shoe must be counterbored, 12" on center, for use with 3/8" Wedge-Bolts. Purchase pre-drilled unless you plan on drilling holes yourself.

3. How many Setting Blocks will you need?
Setting Blocks are used to center the glass in the shoe moulding. You will need 2 strips per lite of glass. They are available in a bulk spool to be cut to size or in pre-cut 10 packs.

4. How many End Caps will you need for your Shoe Moulding?
These are aluminum end caps. If you need to match metal cladding, selecti matching end caps below (#14).

5. How many Mitered Corners ?
Pre-mitered sections of shoe moulding are available -- 3 feet x 3 feet.

6. How much Shoe Top Gasket material do you need?
A gasket is inserted along the top of the shoe to close off the opening. You should order twice as much gasket as you have shoe moulding.

7. How many Wedge-Bolts?
Order one for every 1 foot of shoe moulding.

8. How many Spacing Pads?
Placed between lites of glass, order one less than you have glass panels. These act as spacers between panels as well as a dam for your desired pour area.

9. How much quick setting expansion cement will you need?
  • 50 lbs will suffice for 40 feet of shoe.
  • Kwixset is for exterior applications
  • Rockite is for interior applications.

12. How many stock lengths of cladding do you need?

Cladding is supplied in 10 foot lengths. You will generally require twice as much cladding as you have shoe moulding.

13. Do you need Corner Cladding ?

If you have selected Mitered Corners above, you will need Corner Cladding. Order one set per mitered corner.

14. Do you need Cladding End Caps?

These end caps are produced from sheet material and will match the shoe cladding you have selected.

15. How many 108 foot rolls of double-faced tape will you need?

Used to adhere cladding to shoe moulding. Generally used three lengths, continuous on back of cladding. Multiply your total cladding requirement by three for total adhesive tape requirement.

Cap Railing and Components

Most building codes require a cap rail be used on top of the glass in a structural glass system. Check your local codes for clarification.

16. Cap Material/Finish

Available in Stainless Steel, Aluminum and Brass. Aluminum is stocked with a mill finish but should be anodized or painted in application. Brass is stocked with a polished finish. Satin finish is available on request. Contact Wagner for special finishes.

18. How many stock lengths of Cap Rail do you need?

Order in stock lengths as noted above. Allow for drops depending on your field dimensions.

19. Do you need Cap Rail Splice Connectors?

Splice Connectors are used as an internal connection at butt joints as in joining cap rail to cap rail or joining cap rail to a miter elbow. They are set in place using epoxy adhesive.

End Caps are used to close off the end of your selected Cap Rail.

21. Do you need 90° Horizontal Mitered Cap Rail Corners?

Mitered corners will match your Cap Rail selection. You will need to also order two Splice Connectors and epoxy for installation..

22. Do you need epoxy adhesive?

Epoxy is used to set internal splice connections. It is not to be used for glass. Supplied as a two-part epoxy with applicator.

23. How many lengths of Protective Insert do you need?

Used to protect the top edge of the glass from making contact with the metal rail cap.

The following tools are not required but are helpful in the installation of Glass Railing. Select those items you would like to include in your quote.

Neat and effective method to manually deliver Rockite or Kwixset into the shoe moulding. This pouring ramp provides a wide delivery area for mess-free pouring of cement into the shoe moulding. It also shields the gasket retention groove area in the shoe eliminating further clean-up.
